Lets Support Our NWE Alumnus, Visit “El Mexicano” – A Mexican food joint

Gurseerat Brar, a NWE Alumnus takes a leap into first generation entrepreneurship by starting up a Mexican food joint in Chandigarh.

Founded by an alumnus of Negi Sports, it serves up quesadillas, customizable salads and burritos, a variety of tacos and enchiladas, along with drinks and desserts native to Mexico. Born out of the founders need for good Mexican food in the chandigarh city, the newly opened joint is collaborating with various artisans around the country to source various hand crafted packaging and support local livelihoods in the process.

Gurseerat Brar attended camps with NWE as a child and later joined us back as an intern to manage the Summer Programs for two consecutive years while she was pursuing her studies at Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi. On graduating, she went on to work for Anheauser Busch InBev- the largest beverage manufacturer in the world- for two years followed by a short stint with a UK based startup in Delhi dealing in ready to eat snacks before she finally moved to Chandigarh in November 2018 with the aim of venturing out on her own.

Wanting to eat authentic Mexican food in the city and no good place to go, gurseerat found and solved her own problem at the same time. Working on her project, she looked into all the details of her new venture herself- starting from the recipes, to the interiors, paperwork and last mile execution. As she fondly recalls, attending camps with Negi Sports instilled in her a sense of independence and then coming back years later as an intern, she learnt how to multi- task and manage a plethora of tasks in the back end as well as front end.

“All my time spent attending camps with NWE helped me build my personality and take challenges head on. Surviving in the wild helped me assess all possible situations, outcomes and parameters involved. Stepping into the shoes of an intern helped me hone my leadership skills, which is what is helping me immensely in my venture now. Listening to and taking in entrepreneurial lessons from the staff at NWE helped me prepare for the many challenges to come my way “

Working on stream lining processes and hopefully grow it into more branches one day, gurseerat is taking challenges one day at a time and we wish her the best in her future endeavors and encourage all of our alumni and viewers to surely take some time to visit.
